A cube has sides that are initially 100 mm and is subjected to stresses of 60 MPa (tensile), 40 MPa (compressive) and 80 MPa (tensile) in the x -, y - and z -directions, respectively. Calculate (a) the strains in these directions, (b) the changes in dimensions, (c) the volumetric strain and (d) the change in volume. Take E = 150 GPa and v = 0.3.
