Question 1: Ammonia in air being absorbed by a pure water stream in a packed tower. The absorber operates at 1 atm pressure and 20C. Use 2 inch metal Pall Rings and design for a pressure drop of 0.5 inches/ft. Calculate the tower diameter and packing height.

V= 100 kgmoles air/hr,
Ya0 = 0.03
Yaz = 0.005
Xa0= 0.036

Question 2: Referring to Example problem 10.5-1, use Equation 10.5-18, and the delta Hy integral result from lecture, to get a better value for NTU ( closer to 1.82 which was obtained by the interface numerical method). Use values in Table 10.5-1 or Figure 10.5-4 and obtain a "best linear trend line" to get values for "a" and "b". Calculate NTU.

Question 3: Problem 10.5-2 (p.691) but use an air flow rate of 2000 lbm air/hr sqft.
