In a study we asked 50 male senior citizens and 50 female senior citizens which animal they would prefer as a companion: a dog, a cat, or a goldfish. We want to see if senior men and women are dissimilar with regard to animal choice. 35 men had dogs, 12 men had cats, 3 men had fish, 15 women had dogs, 18 women had cats, 17 women had fish. Calculate the test statistic, state what the critical value is, state whether or not the null is rejected, and state what the conclusion is regarding the experimental hypothesis. Let α = .05. You need to explain all your work, numerically where necessary. (This doesn't mean you have to type out exact formulas, but you need to numerically explain all the steps.
