1. Calculate the standard state potential (E0) and the equilibrium constant (K) for the following redox reaction: IO3-(aq) + I-(aq) ↔ I2(s) acidic solution

Assume that [H3O+] is 1.0 M.

IO3-/I2 = 1.195 V; I-/I2 = 0.5355 V

Notes: This redox reaction is not balanced. You will need to balance it before calculating its standard state potential.

Clearly show and indicate the oxidation and reduction half-reactions as well as the overall reaction.

2. Calculate the potential for the following (unbalanced) redox titration at 25 oC:

Ti2+ (aq) + Fe3+ (aq) → Ti3+ (aq) + Fe2+ (aq)

Fe3+/ Fe2+ = 0.771 V; Ti3+/ Ti2+ = -0.37 V

When 12.5 ml of 0.010 M of the titrant (underlined) is added to 25.0 ml of 0.010 M analyte.
