A transmission line, 32 kV and 50 km in length carries a current of 500 A using an Al conductor. The resistivity of Al can be assumed to be 3.2 × 10-8 Ω.m at operating temperatures. Assuming that the current is evenly distributed within the conductor strands, calculate the following:

(a) The required conductor area to restrict heat loss to 25 W over the length of conductor.

(b) If the voltage were to be changed to 132 kV using the same conductor, what would be the heat loss?
