A beverage company is suspected of underfilling its cans of pop. the company claims its cans on average contain 12 oz of pop with standard deviation of .4 oz. Assume the company is telling the truth.

A quality inspector measures the contents of an SRS of 50 cans of the company's pop and calculates the sample mean x.

-What is the mean of the sampling distribution of x for samples of size n=50?

-Check the condition for using the formula for the standard deviation of the sampling distribution. Then calculate the standard deviation. Now the inspector obtains a sample mean of x=11.9 oz He wants to calculate the probability that a random sample of 50 cans produces a sample mean of amount of 11.9 oz. or less.

-Explain why you can use a normal distribution to calculate this probability.

-Calculate the probability that a random sample of 50 cans produces a sample mean amount of 11.9 oz or less.

-Based on this sample result , what would you conclude about whether or not the company is underfilling its pop cans ? Explain.
