Question: In an automated soldering operation, the location at which the solder is placed is very important. The deviation from the center of the board is a normally distributed random variable with a mean of 0 inches and a standard deviation of 0.01 inches. (A positive deviation indicates a deviation to the right of the center and a negative deviation indicates a deviation to the left of the center.)

(a) What is the probability that on a given board the actual location of the solder deviated by less than 0.005 inches (in absolute value) from the center?

(b) What is the probability that on a given board the actual location of the solder deviated by more than 0.02 inches (in absolute value) from the center?
