Calculate the percent uncertainty in flow rate for the venturi measurements in Prob. 7.63 using the same uncertainties in the pressure and temperature measurements as in Prob. 7.62.
Prob. 7.63
The airflow system in Prob. 7.60 is measured with a venturi having like dimensions as the orifice, i.e., the same pipe diameter and throat diameter. Calculate the flow rate in kg/s for the same pressure and temperature measurements as in Prob. 7.60.
Prob. 7.60
An orifice is installed according to ASME specifications in a 5.0-cm-diameter pipe. The diameter of the orifice is 2.5 cm and the pressure taps are one diameter upstream and one-half diameter down-stream. Amano meter is used to measure the orifice pressure differential as 1932 mmH2O and the upstream pressure is measured as 400 kPa gage pressure with the local barometer reading as 750 mmHg. The fluid is air at a temperature of 27?C. Calculate the airflow rate in kg/s.
Prob. 7.62
Suppose the flow system in Probs. 7.60 and 7.61 is fluctuating such that the differential pressure varies over a range of ±12 mmH2O while the inlet pressure fluctuates by ±10 kPa. The temperature measurement is within ±2?C. Calculate the resultant uncertainties in the flow rates expressed as a percent of the calculated values.
Probs. 7.61
The orifice in Prob. 7.60 is used to measure the same airstream and the differential pressure reading is observed as 190 mm with all other readings the same. What is the airflow under these conditions?
Draw a picture of a typical strain gauge and point out the major components. Give a short explanation on the principal behind how a strain gauge works.
A rectangle channel 20 feet wide carries a discharge Q= 200cfs. Compute the critical depth and critical velocity for the flow in the channel.
If the block is subjected to the centrally applied force of 600 kN, determine the averege normal stress in thematerial. Show the stress acting on a differential volume element of the material.

At the morning break, an industrial engineer quickly measures the worker's heart rate and finds a peak value of 110 beats/min one minute after stopping work and a value of 95 beats/min three minutes after stopping work.
Figure below shows a "sway" frame with 14×14 inch columns and 14×26 in beams. The moments computed for column AB are from the frame analysis and represent the moments about x-x axis of the column cross section.
A WTP Operator is trying to size a pump that takes water from a WTPholding tank and sends it to a house on a hill above theplant. The operator's goal is to have 60 psi of waterpressure entering the house. The operator knows that the head loss (major+..

Oxygen and methane are mixed at 250kPa absolute pressure and 100 degrees C. The velocity of the gases into the mixer us 5m/s. The density of the gas leaving the mixer is 2.2 kg/m^3. Determine the exit velocity of the gas mixture.
The mean grade on a final examination was 72, and the standard deviation was 9. The top 10% of the students are to receive A's. What is the minimum grade a student must get in order to receive an A ?
the reliability is to be 95%, the overall standard deviation is 0.4, the drainage coefficient is 0.9, delta PSI is 1.7 ( with TSI of 2.5), and the load transfer coefficient is 3.2. the modulus of subgrade reaction is 200 lb/in^3.
