Question 1. The Von Trapp Company produces and sells portable trampolines. For the month of January, the company's beginning Work-in-Process (WIP) inventory was 4,500 units, 75% complete for materials. During the month of January there were 90,000 units started, 78,000 units were finished, and the ending WIP inventory for the month was 16,500 units that were 50% complete for materials. (Note that for these problems, we'll be applying the standard formula that uses the weighted-average method of calculating equivalent units.)

Part A. With respect to materials, calculate the number of equivalent units in ending WIP.

Part B. With respect to materials, calculate the total equivalent units of production.

Ending WIP was 75% complete for direct materials and 50% complete for conversion costs. (Note that for these problems, we'll be applying the standard formula that uses the weighted-average method of calculating equivalent units.)

Part A. With respect to materials, calculate the total equivalent units of production.

Part B. With respect to conversion costs, calculate the total equivalent units of production.

Question 3. Ted manages a single department within a large manufacturing facility that produces lava lamps. Ted's department receives partially completed incoming lamp assemblies from an "upstream" department that has already installed the base and glass for each lamp. It's then the job of Ted's department to just insert, connect, and test all of the electrical components before transferring out the units, which then move directly to Vikram's department where the lava fluid will be injected and sealed into each lamp before packaging and shipment.

For the past month of July, Ted's department had 50 units in its beginning Work-in-Process (WIP) inventory. During the month of July, 250 units were transferred into Ted's department to have the electrical assembly work done. Ted's department completed (and consequently transferred out) 200 units during the month. Assuming that no units were broken or stolen, how many ending WIP units were in Ted's department for July? Please show your calculation in addition to the answer.
