Assignment:

An I-O psychologist was interested in researching whether praise and positive reinforcement can impact the motivation of hourly employees. The psychologist gave all the company's hourly employees a rating scale to measure work motivation. Because the organization was structured into work-teams, with each team having a supervisor and 12-15 hourly employees, he randomly asked some of work team supervisors of the hourly employees to give 5-7 positive comments/words of praise to each employee every week for 2 months. The other supervisors were told to answer employees' questions but instructed not to give positive comments or praise to their teams. At the end of the 2-months, he gave all the hourly employees the same motivation rating scale and calculated the means and standard deviations for each group.
