Calculate the maximum weight that the person in Problem 6.14 can sustain if turns of rope are taken around the pole.

Problem 6.14

A heavy machine is lowered into a pit by means of a rope wrapped around an 8-in.-diameter stationary pole placed horizontally across the top of the pit. The coefficient of static friction for the rope on the pole is 0.35. The rope makes 1 1 2 turns around the pole. Calculate the maximum weight that can be sustained if a person exerts a force of 50 lb on the end of the rope.
