Calculate the energy stored in a steel torsion bar spring such as that shown in Figure 12.1a when one end of the bar angularly rotates 65° relative to the other end. The length of the torsion bar portion is 50 in., and the diameter is 0.312 in. Also, calculate the maximum shear stress.
