A large rectangular raft (density 650 kg/m3) is floating on a lake.

Total volume of the raft is 1.80 m2. The density of the lake water is 1000kg/m3.

(a) Calculate the height, h, of the portion of the raft above the surrounding water.

(b) Calculate the magnitude (and state direction) of the buoyant force on the raft.

(c) If the mass of an average person is 75kg, calculate the maximum number of people that can be evenly distributed on the raft without submerging the surface.
