Problem: A cylinder contains 584ml of loose wet sand which weighs 924gr. Under a static compaction, the volume of sample is reduced 8% of the original volume and the degree of saturation of the soil reaches Sr=58%. (Gs=2.65)

Required:

Question 1: Calculate the mass of water? (in gr)

Question 2: How much was the void ratio of the sample prior to compaction?

Question 3: Calculate the dry density of the sample after compaction. (in gr/ml)
