In Fig. P2.43, with the manometer top open the mercury level is 8 in. below the air pipe; there is no pressure in the air pipe. The manometer top is then sealed. Calculate the manometer reading H for a pressure of 30 psi in the air pipe. Assume an isothermal process for the air in the sealed tube.
