  • You'll need to comdfdall cells highlighted in yellow for the rest of the benchmark jobs on the next few pages.
  • First, assign a degree to each compensable factor for each job.
  • Then, examine the total points for each job. Do they seem to align with the job level (e.g., the total points of the Benefits Manager job should NOT be lower than the total points of the Payroll Assistant job). If not,
    • Check if you calculate the total points correctly for all jobs
    • Examine whether you make any mistakes with scaling (i.e., assigning the degrees to) to the compensable factors, and adjust the scaling as you see fit.
  • Provide a rational for assigning specific degrees of EACH compensable factor to each job.
    • Hint: refer to the multimedia resources I posted on Elearning (National Compensation Survey (NCS): Leveling Guide for Evaluating Your Firm's Job and Pay), and look at how NCS described jobs with different total points. Of course, this example is much more complicated than what we are dealing here in this case, but it should give you some idea of what you should emphasize when justifying WHY you assign a specific degree to each job (skim through pg. 11-61 for the example of "knowledge" as the compensable factor).
