A population of 2,000 women who were breast cancer free were selected and followed for the development of breast cancer over a ten-year study period. 12 women were followed for one year and then were lost to follow up. 20 women were followed for two years and then were lost to follow up. After four years, 6 women developed breast cancer and 15 were lost to follow up. After six years, 4 women developed breast cancer and 3 were lost to follow up. After seven years, 9 women developed breast cancer and 7 were lost to follow up. After nine years, 5 women developed breast cancer. The remaining subjects did not develop breast cancer and were followed for the entire ten years. Assume that all diagnoses and losses to follow up occurred at the end of the year.
