In a cold air-standard Brayton cycle, air enters a compressor operating at steady state at 15 lb/in2, 80 degress F, with a volumetric flow rate of 6000 ft3/min. The compression occurs in two stages and the pressure ratio across each stage is the same. Air is cooled to 90 degrees F between the stages by intercooler. Both compressors have an isentropic efficiency of 80% and maximum cycle pressure is 1500 lbf/in2. For k = 1.4, calculate: a.) the power for each compressor stage, in Btu/min. b.) the heat transfer rate for the intercooler, in Btu/min.
