A 4.0 Liter (displacement volume) compression-ignition engine develops a NIMEP of 800 kPa with efficiency fc=28.28% using a fuel with a LHV of 40,000 kJ/kg. The compression ratio is 20.99.

A. Calculate the fuel delivered to the engine per cycle.

B. Estimate the peak temperature using the ideal air-standard Diesel cycle model using constant specific heats for air of (Cp = 1.005 and Cv = 0.718 [kJ/kgK]). Assume the pressure and temperatures prior to compression are 100 kPa and 320 K, respectively.

C. Calculate the cutoff ratio (V3/V2) using the ideal model.
