A cork in the form of a cylinder with length 6 centimeter and cross-sectional area 4 cm^2 is placed in water and it is found that one half of its volume is submerged. A man now pushes down on the cork such that all but 1 centimeter of length is under water and then the cork is released. it is observed that the cork bobs up and down performing SHM.
