A water cannon for rock tunneling operates by using compressed gas for accelerating a 65-kg high-strength titanium alloy piston to 225 km/h over a distance of 0.3 m. The energy of the piston is transferred to 0.95 kg of water, which is fired out of a small nozzle. Calculate the energy of the piston as it contacts the water. Assuming all this energy is transferred to the water, calculate the velocity the water achieves.
