A new coal-fired power plant burns 50,000 tons/day of coal with 7% ash and a heating value of 12000 Btu/lbm. Forty percent of the ash drops out of the furnace as slag. Calculate the efficiency required of an ESP to remove fly ash if the plant is to meet the NSPS for particulates.
