A patient walks across a force platform and the forces exerted by the patients foot during a step is recorded. The peak vertical reaction force is 1200N (the force acts upward on the patient). At the same instant the braking frictional force is 200N (the force acts backwards on the patient).

a. How large is resultant of these forces?

b. What is the direction of the resultant force?
