A hemispherical bowl of radius r connected to a U-tube of constant radius r. Initially the the bowl is empty and the air/manometer liquid interface in both legs is at the level of the bottom of the bowl. If water is added to the bowl until it is full, find the manometer deflection. Assume that the manometer liquid and water are immiscible. Hint: the manometer liquid interface in the left leg drops the same distance as the meniscus in the right leg rises. If R = 27 cm, r = 1 cm, and the manometer liquid is mercury, calculate the deflection.
