A power plant burns 5000 tons/day of a coal that has a 85% carbon content. The air-to-fuel ratio is 16:1 and the target CO2 removal using amine scrubbers is 95%. The maximum design superficial gas velocity is to be 15 ft/sec at a tower temperature of 140 oF. Calculate the daily CO2 removal rate, and calculate the diameter of the amine absorption tower if only one tower is desired.
