It is desired to study the effect of turbine inlet temperature on the performance of an ideal steam Rankine cycle. Steam enters the turbine at 500 psia and exhausts at 2 psia. Calculate the cycle thermal efficiency and the moisture content of the steam leaving the turbine for turbine inlet temperatures of saturated vapor, 700 F, 1000 F, and 1400 F. Plot both moisture content and thermal efficiency versus turbine inlet temperature for the specified turbine inlet pressure and exhaust pressure. What conclusions can you draw from the results obtained?
