Problem set in analytical chemistry spectroscopy:

Q. A 1.0 x 10-3  M solution of a dye (X) shows an absorbance of 0.20 at 450 mµ and an absorbance of 0.05 at 620 mµ. A 1.0 x10-4  M solution of dye (Y) shows 0.00 absorbance at 450 mµ and an absorbance of 0.42 at 620 mµ. Calculate the concentration of each dye present in a solution which exhibits an absorbance of 0.38 and 0.71 at 450 and 620 mµ  respectively. The same cell is used for all measurements.
