Consider a T shaped wooden beam comprised of a 2 x 6 and a 2 x 8 20 feet long. [Use nominal dimensions for beam cross section.] A steel plate 20 feet long and of cross section 6 x ½ inches is fastened to the top of the T.

Assume the beam is subjected to a bending moment of magnitude -540 ft lb at some point along its length. Calculate the bending stress? at that point (a) at the top of the steel, (b) at the bottom of the steel just above the wood, and (c) at the top of the wood just below the steel.
