Task 1:

A. To calculate the total marks for English, Maths and ICT

B. To calculate the average marks for each student and state whether they received a pass or fail.

Task 2:

To describe some benefits and features of word processing, spreadsheet, and PowerPoint presentation software, in a report format.

Task 1 Instructions

1) Rename the first worksheet in your spreadsheet to "Student Results".

2) Add the title "Students Record" at the top of your worksheet.

3) Format the title Q consider font style, font size, text colour, cell background colour, text alignment or merged cells.

4) Use an appropriate function to calculate today's date.

5) For each subject (English, Maths, ICT), write a formula to calculate the total marks.

6) For each student, calculate the average mark for the three subjects (English, Maths, and ICT)

8) Using an IF function, output the words "Pass" where the average is greater than 40%, or "Fail" otherwise

Task 2: Report

In report format, you are required to research, review and highlight the benefits and features of word processing software, presentation software, and spreadsheet software

Prepare a report to answer the following questions. It should address the following topics:

1. Definition of word processing software
2. Benefits of word processing software
3. Key features of word processing software

4. Definition of presentation software
5. Benefits of presentation software
6. Key features of presentation software

7. Definition of spreadsheet software
8. Benefits of spreadsheet software
9. Key features of spreadsheet software

10. Describe two commands in Microsoft 2010 from any applications you have used to increase your own productivity as a student

Structure your report using the appropriate word processing tools: Cover page
Table of contents, and headings (5 marks) Referencing and Bibliography

Introduction (about 5% of word count)

Separate your analysis into topics - create a subheading per topic.

Create a chain of paragraphs under each subheading (1 idea per paragraph). In each paragraph, the reader is asking you to explain:

? What are your evidences on this idea? What do these evidences tell us?
? How does this paragraph link to the report title?
? How does it link to the topic in the next paragraph?

It is not sufficient simply to describe a situation. Analysis and a critical approach are essential. Charts, diagrams and tables can be used to reinforce your arguments.

Recommendations (about 10% of word count)
Based on your analysis, outline your recommendations.

Conclusion (about 10% of word count)
? Do not introduce any NEW material here.
? Restate what you consider the main points.
? Make it clear why those conclusions are important or significant.
? In your last sentence, link your conclusions or recommendations back to the title. Did you answer your main question? What was the answer?

Bibliography
An alphabetically ordered list of the references cited in your report, in Harvard style.
