To calculate the amount of calories, protein and fluid from a rate in ml/hour: Rate ml/hrx hrs x kcal/ml = kcals
Rate ml/hr x hrs x g pro/1000 ml = pro
Rate ml/hr x hrs x % fluid/100 ml = amount of free H2O
To calculate the rate from pt estimated needs:
Kcal needed ÷ hrs (24 or 12) ÷ kcal/ml = rate pt needs
Bolus:

To calculate cans from pt estimated needs:
Kcal needed ÷ kcal/m1 (of selected formula) ÷ 240 ml = # of cans/d
To calculate amount of calories, protein and fluid from bolus schedule:
# cans/d x 240 ml x kcal/ml = kcals/d
# cans/d x 240 ml x g pro/1000ml= g protein
# cans/d x 240 ml x %fluids/100ml = amount of free H2O
