Calculate the amount of benzoyl peroxide (C6H5CO - O - O - OCC6H5) initiator required to produce 1 kg of polyethylene with an average molecular weight of 200,000 g/mol. Each benzoyl peroxide molecule produces two free radicals that are each capable of initiating a polyethylene chain. Assume that 20% of the initiator actually is effective and that all termination occurs by the combination mechanism.The polyethylene produced above is used to make a rope. The rope weighs 0.5 kg per meter. Calculate:i. the number of polyethylene chains in a 3-meter length of rope.ii. the total length of chains in the rope, assuming that the length of one repeat unit is 0.24495 nm.the percent crystallinity of the rope if the density of the rope is 0.92 g/cm3 and of the amorphous polyethylene is 0.87 g/cm3.
