Question- A solution containing 8.0 g of compound A in 100 mL of water is to be extracted with ether. The distribution coefficient of A between ether and water is 3. Note that the solubility of compound A in ether is more than in water.

A) By showing detailed calculations for each extraction step, calculate the amount of A that will be extracted if 100 mL of the aqueous solution of compound A is shaken/extracted three times with 20 mL of ether.

i) First extraction with 20 mL of ether.

ii) Second extraction with 20 mL of ether.

iii) Third extraction with 20mL of ether

iv) Total amount of compound A removed from the aqueous solution after three 20 mL extractions with ether.

B) Calculate the amount of A that will be extracted if 100 mL of the aqueous solution of compound A is shaken/extracted only once with 50 mL of ether.

I am in urgent need of solution of above problem with complete explanation
