1. Terri is a vegetarian on the Fort Lewis cross country team struggling to meet her protein requirement. She is also trying to gain weight. Terri currently weighs 105 pounds and her caloric needs are around 2500 kcal/day. She has come to you for nutritional advice. Calculate Terri's protein needs. What foods and/or protein supplement would you recommend to her to ensure she's meeting her daily protein requirement? Provide a brief justification for your recommendations.

2. Tony is running late to the gym in the morning and grabs a banana off his counter for a quick pre-workout snack. Briefly explain how the carbohydrates in the banana are digested and absorbed in Tony's body, and provide an explanation of why the banana was a good choice for a snack.

3. Sharon is competing in a 50 mile mountain bike race this Saturday. Provide a meal plan for her including the following: dinner night before, breakfast day off, snacks during the race, and post-race snacks/meal. Provide a short justification of why you chose the foods/beverages that you did.

4. Skylar is on his high school lacrosse team. His current practice schedule is 5 times a week Monday - Friday for 2 hours with games on Saturdays. He weighs 163 pounds and consumes about 2800 calories per day. How much protein, total fat, and carbohydrates should Skylar be consuming based on current recommendations? Calculate the total grams he should be ingesting each day and then calculate the percentage of his total daily calories for these three nutrients.
