Circuit Analysis
Note: (i) This is a closed-book exam (ii) You are allowed to use calculators and MATLAB to facilitate your problem solving process (iii) Make sure to show all of your work including current assignments and directions, equations set-up and any MATLAB function that you are using in a clear and orderly manner. You may lose points on hap-hazard, untidy or unreadable work (iv)You must show complete steps to solve simultaneous equations from one of the problems. You are allowed to take help from MATLAB or calculators to solve simultaneous equations for the other problems.
Problem # 1: Determine the numerical value for each current and voltage. Do not use Mesh or Node analysis.
Problem # 2: Use the easiest method to Calculate power supplied by the dependant voltage source (4v1). Choose bottom node as your ground or zero-reference, if required.
Problem # 3: Calculate the power dissipated in 5Ω resistor in the following circuit. Choose bottom node as your ground or zero-reference, if required. Choose easiest method to solve this problem. [Note: iΦ, is the current through 5Ω resistor]
Problem # 4: What value of variable resistor, Ro, will receive the maximum power from the circuit? what will be the value of this power? Note that ix is the current in the 10Ω resistor (from left to right)
