Question

A typical jet fuel has an energy density of 60 MJ/kg. A Boeing 747 airliner at cruising speed and altitude must overcome a drag force of about 10,000 Newtons, while traveling at 250 meters per second. Calculate the power needed to overcome drag by multiplying the force times the Speed, and then calculate how much fuel must be burned every second in order to overcome this drag force.
