Calculate net mass balance values for the balanced years of 70/71 and 74/75 as well as the accumulation for the balance year 72/73 for each elevation class.
For each of the three balance years, calculate an average water gain or loss for the whole glacier through the volumetric method. This requires you to multiplying the area of each band by its net balance and then sum these up for the entire glacier's balance.
Illustrate the relationship between elevation and accumulation, ablation, and mass balance for the Peyto Glacier by graphing the ablation, accumulation, and net balance gradients (see Lecture 5d Slide 39).
Briefly explain the elevation - mass balanced relationship based on the above graphed gradients.
