Single axis tracking for PV farms
The yearly yield of PV systems on land can take advantage from sun tracking.
World leader company Stinorland offers solutions based on single axis tracking where PV modules can follow the sun rotating from facing east to facing west
Calculate:
1) Module motion law at equinox and solstices (latitude 37° or wherever you like) and parallel motion linkage law.
2) Direct beam gain with respect to a fixed structure facing south at best tilt (equinox and solstices)
BHE field design according to Ashrae/Tp8 method (data on Aulaweb)
A simple but detailed enough method for the design of geothermal heat pump heat exchangers is the Ashrae method with Tp8 algorithm
Based on a.a.2017/18 lectures and with reference to the formula set and Flow
Chart available at Aulaweb cloud storage:
1) Build an algorithm (e.g in Excel or mathlab) for calculating the overall BHE length as a function of building heat loads and ground properties
2) Estimate the SEB building (Savona Campus) thermal energy requirements based on the Savona Uni 10349 weather data and building envelope transmittance
3) Estimate the ground thermal conductivity from Dime TRT measurements (aulaweb time series)
4) Check the borefield response after 10yrs according to the Ashrae/Tp8 method
Best orientation for solar collectors
The yearly yield of solar collectors depends on their orientation and insolation conditions. Based on Italian official weather data (monthly values by province capital cities, on Aulaweb cloud storage) and Rb/Isotropic sky model, estimate (by trial and error) the best tilt as a function of latitude, city by city. Then correlate best tilt with latidude as in Figure and finally try to find a correlation for best tilt correction (with respect to latitude) as a function of EH,diff/EH,dir
Take as a reference the approach described in the paper "Effects of tilt and azimuth on annual incident solar radiation for united states locations" by C.B. Christensen, G.M. Barker, 2001 (Teacher's Slides on Solar Energy Fundamentals).
