For this assignment, read the three case studies and answer the questions below.

  1. Case Study Part 1: Jerome participated in a health screening at his local fitness center, where they performed a finger stick to evaluate cholesterol and blood glucose. Jerome's results reported that his total cholesterol was 287 mg · dL-1 and his HDL was 43 mg · dL-1.
  2. Case Study Part 2: His follow-up results were total cholesterol, 265 mg · dL-1; HDL, 38 mg · dL-1; triglycerides, 185 mg · dL-1; LDL, 190 mg · dL-1, and glucose, 106 mg · dL-1.
  3. Case Study Part 3: Jerome was a baseball player at a small college, and has tried to maintain his college fitness over the past few years. When he went for his follow-up blood test, he also received a printout of his BMI, which was calculated based on his height of 5'11'' and his weight of 188 lb., and determined to be "overweight." Jerome's waist measures at 96 cm. 

Answer the following questions:

  2. Case Study Part 2: Provide an interpretation of these tests and explain what recommendation you would make to Jerome.
  3. Case Study Part 3: Calculate Jerome's actual BMI and what would be your next step with Jerome.
  4. Case Study Part 3: What would you suggest to Jerome based on this information?
  5. Discuss the health conditions that can be associated with having a high BMI and large waist circumference.
