The MN blood group is determined by a single gene with two alleles (M and N). A Navajo population in New Mexico was tested for this blood group and the following results occured:
Phenotype persumed genotype # in sample
Type M MN 375
Type N NN 21
Type MN MN 4
A) Calculate the frequency of the two alleles (M) and (N)
B) using the frequemcies determined in (a) use chi-squared test to determine whether or not this population is in hardy weinberg equilibrium.
# observed # expected based on HWE
Type M 375 ___________
Type N 21 ___________
Typw MN 4
Total 400 400
what are the expected values
Alpha= 0.05
ch-squared=_________
degree of freedom= _________
critical value= __________
because chi-squared is _________ (greater/less) than the critcal value, you will _______ (accept/reject) the null hypothesis
C) Regardless of your answer in (b) give one reason why this population may not be in hardy-weinberg equilibrium.
