Case: Proposal for Point of Sale System Business Description: The business I have chosen for the Point of Sale (POS) system is a boutique clothing store called "FashionFusion." FashionFusion offers a wide range of trendy clothing items and accessories for both men and women. The store has nine types of items for sale, including dresses, shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, handbags, sunglasses, hats, and jewelry. The store aims to provide a unique and personalized shopping experience to its customers by offering high-quality products and exceptional customer service.
Software Requirements:
1 ) User Interface: Upon starting the system, a user-friendly graphical interface will be displayed. This interface will showcase all the available items categorized into their respective types. Each item will be represented by a button, allowing the operator to easily select items for purchase.
2 ) Recording Items: When a customer selects items for purchase, the operator will record each item in the system by clicking on the corresponding buttons. The selected items will be added to the current transaction.
3 ) Transaction Recording: The system will maintain a record of each transaction, including the transaction ID, date, time, operator ID, customer ID, item ID, and item price amount. This information will be stored in a structured format to enable easy retrieval and analysis.
4 ) Display Total Sale Amount: For each transaction, the system will calculate and display the total sale amount. This will help the operator provide an accurate summary of the customer's purchase.
5 ) Writing Transactions to File: All transactions will be written to an external file named "transactions.txt." The system will ensure that existing data in the file is not overwritten. Instead, new transactions will be appended to the end of the file. The format of the data in the file will be organized like a receipt, with appropriate spacing and separating characters for readability.
6 ) Confirmation of Transaction: Before writing the receipt to the "transactions.txt" file, the operator will need to confirm the transaction. This step ensures accuracy and prevents any unintended or erroneous entries.
In summary, the proposed POS system for the FashionFusion boutique clothing store will provide a user-friendly interface for the shop operator to record customer purchases, maintain transaction records, calculate total sale amounts, and generate receipt-like entries in an external file. This system will streamline the sales process and enhance the overall shopping experience for customers.
