The overall mortality rate for patients who have had a cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is 15.8% at CGH. You have been asked to compare the hospital's mortality rate to that of the state. Using the data provided in Table 1-A-6, calculate the age-adjusted death rate and the standard mortality ratio (SMR) for the hospital, using the indirect method of standardization.
