Our apparent weight is actually judged not by the force of gravity pulling on us, but rather by the force of the ground pushing up against us. Because the earth is rotating, and your body is actually moving in a circle with a centripetal acceleration, your apparent weight will often by slightly different at different parts of the earth. If your mass is 100 kg, what is your actual weight?

By what percent will your apparent weight change if you were to travel from the north pole to the equator?
