Hi, I am currently working on my Business Management research paper and my research question is:
Research Question: Should (construction company's name) utilize the downsizing method (further laying off employees) to improve its profitability and overcome the difficulties posed by the pandemic?
In my research paper draft, I included Lewin's Force Field Analysis, Ratio analysis (profitability ratio), and SWOT analysis to analyze if the company should or should not further lay off employees in the organization in the middle of the pandemic to improve their profitability. However, my business teacher told me that I am using general business decision-making tools to analyze which is not specific to my research question (HR) so she recommended me to change the analysis tools that I am using.
Another tutor recommended me saying, "since laying off are an issue and a change... I think it's wise for you to dive into Organizational Development and use interventions like McKinsey's 7, Porter's Model, TOWS analysis instead of SWOT to help you answer your search question. this will not only answer your research question but would also help you in creating strategies for human resources as well."
Could you suggest other HR analysis tools and explain what McKinsey's 7, Porter's Model, TOWS are? What is the difference between the TOWS and SWOT analysis?
