Develop a reflective learning journal that demonstrates your understanding of a range of theories, concepts and issues pertaining to business ethics for a digital society, and how these inform decision making. Specifically, this will be achieved via your reflections on the ethical issues captured in the following four topics:
Theories of ethics
A case study in business ethics: Therenos
The gig economy
Ethics in online privacy
It is important to note that while you will need to convey your understanding of the course content through the entries in your individual learning journal, it is important that as part of your reflective process, you express your thoughts and opinions about your learning, rather than simply summarise course content. Drawing on the models and frameworks in reflective learning practice will be helpful in this endeavour.
There are many models and frameworks for reflective learning that you can draw on to help you develop your learning journal (e.g., Kolb, 1984, Gibbs, 1988, Ash and Clayton, 2009, Ryan, 2013).
These centre on a four-step 'DIEP' strategy:
Describe objectively what you learned
Interpret the insight
Evaluate what you have learned
Plan how this learning will be applied in practice
Note:
Critically analyse ethical theories, concepts and issues covered in the course;
Evaluate the implications of these theories, concepts, and issues in practical settings; and
Reflect on, and express your thoughts and opinions about, what you have learned in relation to business ethics for a digital society.
