Instructions: Write a Case Study, using the following scenario:

Scenario: You are the Area Manager for a multi-national company (real or imaginary, of your choice) outside New Zealand (specify which country). Briefly describe the company and its products and services (no more than half a page - provide a reference for a real business). Three years ago you appointed a suitable person from your country to the position of Research and Development Manager at the company's New Zealand branch for a three-year assignment.

1. a) Write a one-page Job Description for this position, using the format of the example in your Course Material as a template, with 3 Key Result Areas and the SMART criteria.

b) You interviewed the successful candidate for this position. Write one behaviour-based interview question, specifically for this position, that you asked at the interview. Write the answer your candidate gave to this question and record your evaluation of the answer, using the format given in class.

c) Briefly describe one recent important article (not from your Course Material) you read on recruitment, and describe how you used its findings to assist you in the hiring of this person. Use the APA style of referencing.

2. a) Describe, using table format, the suitable induction and orientation programme you had for this person to the New Zealand situation (topics, duration, implementation, etc.) Include at least one reference, in APA style.

b) Describe major differences in culture and employment relations between New Zealand and the 'home' country and how you helped the new manager to deal with them. Include at least one reference using the APA style.

3. a) Describe how you handled this person's performance management, discussing the overall performance management process. Include at least one reference, in APA style.
