Case Analysis Questions: Hong Kong Disney

Answer the following questions as indicated. Whenever possible, justify your responses with case facts andor examples provided in the textbook or lesson notes. Use proper referencing when quoting from textbook or other course materials. The marks for each question arc indicated in brackets within each question.

1 Who is the decision maker here? What are his/her interests?

2 What are the problems confronting HKD? Provide support from the case, identify all potential reasons for the situation HKD has found itself in.

What do the problems and the reasons for the problems tell you about differences between cultures in the United States and Hong Kong/China? (Hint: Hofstede may help in answering this question)

Were there any signs that could have predicted the problems HKD has run into?

3 Identify five important factors (evaluation criteria) that the decision maker would use in evaluating a potential solution to the problem.  Why these five?

4 What options does HKD have to address its problems? Try and be as complete as you can be in describing how the problems can be solved. (State and describe the options, do not assess them at this point)

5 Analyze your options from above, using the criteria from # 3 to evaluate them. [Use a table to structure the answer to this question]

6 Based upon your analysis above, what is your recommendation? (2 marks) Why?

Your write-up should be typed, single spaced, 12 point font, 1 inch margins. Use headings as appropriate. References to the case and textbook material (this course or any other) should be cited using APA format.
