System Dynamics Modelling For PM Assignment -

INTRODUCTION -

Students should achieve an understanding of dynamical systems methods applied to complex adaptive systems (CAS). CAS is a new approach to engineering and management that studies and models how relationships between parts give rise to collective and dynamic system-level behaviours, for example, in communication and transport networks, megaprojects, social and eco-systems. Effectively implemented, the methods can dramatically improve a manager's effectiveness in today's complex and interconnected business world, by helping to predict and evaluate indirect effects of actions and policies. This course provides managers with many practical quantitative tools to enhance individual, team, and organisational learning, change, and performance.

Project Methods -

1. Ability to recognise complex scenarios.

2. Understand the differences in Project Management style, situations and context.

4. Analyse the impact of different scenarios and how they be impacted by the stakeholders decisions.

5. Ability to map the the skills needed in a complex project and identify possible gaps.

Professional Practice

6. Gather and reflect on lessons learnt at the end of the group and individual assignment.

ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION -

1. Students develop and apply System Dynamics models, to a set of scenarios.

2 and 3. Students describe and critically analyse System Dynamics models, in the context of literature on this topic. Oral presentations in class will be conducted in advance of a written report being due.

4. Class participation mark will be composed of (compulsory) attendance at the classes, plus satisfactory active participation in discussions and in-class activities, as directed.

Check tasks, need to use the software called Vensim. You must get 40% in the Individual Assignment to pass the unit, regardless of the sum of your individual marks. There may be statistically defensible moderation when combining the marks from each component to ensure consistency of marking between markers, and alignment of final grades with unit outcomes. Late submissions will incur a penalty of 10% per day for up to 7 days starting directly after the cut off time. This means 5% will be deducted even if submitted on the due day but after the cut-off time. After one week, assessments will no longer be marked receive a 0 mark.
