Question: As we have learned in this course, the war on [people who use] drugs was/is highly racialized and class-based, and the policies surrounding drug use are both the cause and effect of this racialization and classism of drug use. Using material from this course (readings, lectures, group presentations and audiovisual materials) build an essay around the racialization/classism of the so-called war on drugs and two major consequences of it (not in linear causation): the prison-industrial-complex (as a way to further criminalize users) and the emergence of harm reduction strategies (as a way to support users in the context of a tainted illicit supply).
