Part 1:

Activity 1C

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to use project scheduling tools and techniques to identify schedule impact on project time management, resource requirements, costs and risks.
1. Give three examples of project scheduling tools and techniques and explain how they function.

2. Create a simple project schedule for your example project.

Activity 1D

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to contribute to achieving an agreed schedule baseline and communication of the schedule to stakeholders.
1. Explain what is meant by a schedule baseline and what it is useful for.

2. What questions should you ask yourself to ensure communication is effective?

3. Iden tify three benefits of having a communication plan in place.

Activity 2A

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to implement mechanisms to measure, record and report progress of activities according to agreed schedule.
1. Provide four reasons why it is necessary to measure, record and report the progress of a project.

2. Give five examples of methods of measuring progress.

3. Summ arise three key things that should be included in a progress report.

4. For your example project from Activity 1A, outline how you will measure, record and report the project's progress in relation to the schedule.

Activity 2B

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to conduct ongoing analysis to identify baseline variance.
1. Outline how you can assess the progress of a project.

2. Explain what a variance table is and how it works.

3. For your example project, explain how you will identify and record the baseline variance between the actual and planned progress.

Activity 2C

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to analyse and forecast impact of changes to the schedule.
1. Explain what is meant by a change control system and the six steps are involved.

2. When analysing and forecasting the impact of change, outline six important questions you should consider.

Activity 2D

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to review progress throughout project life cycle and implement agreed schedule changes and develop responses to potential or actual schedule changes and implement them to maintain project
objectives.

1. Identify and briefly explain the stages within a project life cycle.

2. when reviewing the progress of your project, what three questions should you ask yourself?

3. Explain what KPIs are and give three relevant examples.

4. Give four examples of agreed schedule changes.

5. For your example project, review progress and identify an agreed schedule change (potential or actual). Explain how you would respond to the change and what you would implement to maintain project objectives.

Activity 3A

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to review schedule performance records to determine effectiveness of time management activities.

1. Explain the benefits of effective time management.

2. Identify three points at which a review of your project's schedule performance may occur.

3. Give five examples of schedule performance records.

Activity 3B

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to identify and document time management issues and recommend improvements.

Give five examples of scheduling or time management issues that may occur within a project. Document each issue in an issue log, and recommend an improvement or solution for each.

Part 2:

Assessor Instructions
Assessor is to follow the instructions with the candidate as per the Project Guidelines Sheet.
ANIBT's normal rules of assessment and assessor instructions and guidelines are detailed in the Trainer and Assessor responsibilities handbook.

Answer the activity in as much detail as possible, considering organisational requirements.

1. Create a project schedule that could be used for a project within your workplace(or a simulated workplace or based on a case study). You should use appropriate project scheduling tools and techniques.

• For your project, create a work breakdown structure. Within this WBS, identify your key performance indicators.

• Use the WBS and any other relevant documentation to create a project schedule.

• Create a communication plan that outlines:

» Who you need to regularly communicate with throughout the course of the project
» When communication should occur
» What information will need to be communicated
» How this information will be communicated.

• Create estimated cost and time budgets that will help you in project scheduling. Use relevant estimating techniques and appropriate software to create these budgets.

2. Write progress reports for two different points throughout the project. Each progress report should be 300 words and should include:

» Status of the project in relation to project schedule
» Any identified risks to project schedule
» Suggested next steps.

3. Review the project scheduling and create an issue log in which you document any problems and recommend improvements for the future.
