Performance Objective
The following assessment is designed to test your ability to identify the needs of a performance development program for a specific context. You should demonstrate your ability to identify suitable purpose and objectives of a performance development program that results in the appropriate outcomes through consultation with key stakeholders.
You should also be able to establish relevant management structure and tools that are relevant to the program. Your developed tools such as selection criteria for mentors and mentees, relationship management mechanisms, reporting and audit should match the needs of all stakeholders including individual and organisational norms and values. The assessment is designed to further test your ability to develop implementation strategies of a performance development plan. You should demonstrate your ability to develop systems to record relevant data and evaluate against expected outcome using agreed technology, process and procedures. You should also be able to recommend further evidence-based improvements of implemented program.
You have been selected as a project manager for the following project. You are required to research, develop and provide a plan for the staff mentoring program. Complete all required questions of this assessment in order to gain a satisfactory (S) result for this assessment.
Read the Telethon case study and its relevant documents carefully. Complete the following tasks to prepare a consultative mentoring implementation plan to extend the current mentoring program to staff of the organisation.
Part A Planning Organisational Performance Development
Question 1. Performance Development Needs and Benefits
Prepare for the program by considering all the team members and determining:
i. the expected benefits
ii. expected needs of the mentoring program.
iii. perception of purpose and objectives
iv. expected outcomes of the program
Question 2. Define the program purpose and objectives
Consider data collected and review in Task 1. Summarise all stakeholder needs, expectation and organisational objectives, resources to develop purpose and objectives of the performance development mentoring programs using following table:
a. Summarise needs, management expectations and structure of the performance development program
b. Identify SMART goals for the performance development mentoring program
c. Summarise purpose/outcome of performance development mentoring program
Question 3. Identify resources
Based on your identified purpose and objectives of the performance development program, you are required to identify specific resources for each of the objectives. Use the following table to identify tasks/methods and resources for your mentoring objectives:
Question 4. In the table below capture roles and responsibilities of stakeholders involved in performance development program. Consider the mentoring program for the four staff and outline each stakeholder responsibilities:

Question 8. Using the outcomes, you determined in Q2c, identify the reporting requirements for the performance development program, frequency and resource requirements based on running your mentoring program over the next 6 months.

Question 10. Develop the following organisational performance development policy and procedures with regards to the proposed mentoring program:

Question 11. Using the Performance Development Process, illustrate how the staff mentees development is to be planned, monitored and reported.

Question 12. What are some of the key issues in cultural differences and diversity that mentors and mentees participating in the staff mentoring program should be aware of when participating in the program? Question 13. Detail, in a report to management, how you would evaluate the performance development plan (PDP) above with respect to the agreed upon SMART Key Performance indicators (see question Q2b) .
Question 14. Based on expected feedback and review of the mentoring program developed, propose at least 2 other forms of professional development programs management can establish to improve staff productivity, self-efficacy and role effectiveness.
